The cRARE Lab explores the role systemic racism plays in the functioning of the criminal justice system through evidence-based research. Using empirical mixed-methods approaches, research stemming from the lab utilize critical race methodologies to better understand how bias and discrimination impact racialized peoples experiences and perceptions of the police, court, and correctional system. With this empirical knowledge, criminal justice leaders and policy makers can begin to take the necessary steps to dismantle the procedures and processes that have maintained racial inequities in Canada.
